Crypto com Arena Wikipédia, a enciclopédia livre

For the first time since it opened in 1999, the sports venue in downtown Los Angeles will have a name other than Staples Center. Starting Saturday, it will be known as Crypto.com Arena, as part of a 20-year deal between the Singapore cryptocurrency exchange and AEG. AEG, the sports and entertainment conglomerate that has majority ownership of the Kings and had a stake in the Lakers until last summer, built the arena that quickly became a famous setting for major events in the U.S. second-largest metropolitan area. The 20,000-seat arena has been the Staples Center since it opened in October 1999, with the naming rights owned by the American office-supplies retail company under a 20-year agreement. The name will change when the Lakers host the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA's annual Christmas showcase.

By finishing sixth in the Western Conference, with a record of 47–35 , they benefited from the current NBA playoff format of regular-season records taking precedence over winning the division, and secured home court advantage over the Denver Nuggets. The Clippers won the first overall pick in the 1998 Draft Lottery and selected center Michael Olowokandi from University of the Pacific. The team had a 0–17 start and finished with a 9–41 record in the lockout-shortened 1998–99 season. They were led by second-year forward Maurice Taylor, who averaged 16.8 points per game, and won the fourth overall pick in the following draft, which coincided with their move to the Staples Center. The Clippers would draft Lamar Odom, and then hired former All-Star Dennis Johnson as an assistant coach, as well as Hall of Fame former Laker great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to help tutor Olowokandi during his second-year. Johnson remained an assistant coach until the middle of the 2002–03 season, when he took over as head coach.

This season, a new $10 million center-hung video display and scoreboard specially designed for STAPLES Center by Panasonic was unveiled for the start of the NBA and NHL seasons. In 1987, the Clippers uniforms changed to a set that remained mostly intact until 2010. On the home white uniform, the team name was written in script lettering, while on the road red uniform, the city name in script was used. Later on, the road uniforms replaced the city name with the team name, and blue numerals were replaced with white numerals. Before the 2000–01 season, the Clippers made slight changes to their uniform, adding the interlocking "LAC" logo on the neckline and gaining thicker contrasting stripes and bolder numerals. Later on, the Clippers unveiled a blue alternate uniform which spelled the city name in red with white trim.

The upper level seats at the Staples Center consist of sections 301 through 334. The number of rows for the upper level sections will greatly vary, but will begin with row 1, and go no higher than row 15. He's confident in his team's ascent, and emergence from the Lakers' shadow, and believes the new arena will expedite both. Staples Center has hosted Clippers and Lakers games, as well as the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, since it opened in 1999, yet the Clippers felt they have been treated like second-class citizens in Los Angeles since moving north from San Diego in 1984. Ballmer, who purchased the team after the NBA banned previous owner Donald Sterling for life in 2014, is hoping to change that image and will spend a reported $1.8 billion on the new arena.

The Clippers and owner Steve Ballmer threw shade at Staples Center and the rival Lakers and their fans while breaking ground on the Intuit Dome, their future state-of-the-art arena in Inglewood, California on Friday. Once the media enter after a game, one of the two stars will speak while the other either soaks his ankles in an ice bucket or receives postgame treatment, though the preferred rhythm for the duo is for Davis to speak to the media first and James to follow. "Now, you're talking about an atmosphere that has excitement from two teams in the same city. I don't know when that's happened -- not in basketball. It's pretty amazing." Crypto.com is paying $700 million for the naming rights to the arena, according to multiple reports. CNBC's Jabari Young reported in November that the new name will be attached to the venue for the next 20 years.

Clippers guard Terance Mann is hugged by teammate Paul George after scoring against the Jazz while drawing a foul. Mann would finish with a career-high 39 points in the series-clinching win. They're scheduled to open owner Steve Ballmer's $1 billion, 18,000-seat Intuit Dome in Inglewood in 2024 when their Staples Center lease expires. The Sparks also could leave downtown then, although nothing has been decided. While several of the bars and pubs in the area offer several food options, a few other food options are a favorite of the locals and are right around the arena that you can stop at before tip-off.

The attempted move, combined with the franchise mismanagement issues, prompted an investigation of the Clippers by an NBA committee of other owners. In September of that year, the committee recommended that Sterling's ownership be terminated, having found that he was late in paying creditors and players. Days before a league scheduled vote in October to remove Sterling, he agreed to sell the team, and the league sought buyers who would keep the franchise in San Diego.

The Clippers also acquired guard Jason Hart from the Utah Jazz, in exchange for guard Brevin Knight, and signed Ricky Davis to a one-year deal. They continued an active off-season by re-signing former Clippers player Brian Skinner in July, while trading for Steve Novak. However, just prior to the start of training camp in September, Williams announced his retirement.

What is Crypto.com? And why did it buy naming rights to the Staples Center?

Most importantly, though, the Lakers recently renewed their lease through the 2041 season. That will ensure that the arena still has its most important tenant for the next two decades. The Los Angeles Lakers were soundly beaten by the Phoenix Suns on Monday night...

Prior to tip-off, the team played a video tribute to Staples Center and all of the team’s historic achievements during their 23 seasons playing under that arena name. Then, throughout the game, they played videos of fan testimonies revealing their favorite moments of the past 23 seasons. Behind Terance Mann’s career-high 39 points, the Clippers overcame a 25-point, second-half deficit to defeat the Utah Jazz in Game 6 to earn their first trip to the Western Conference finals. The Clippers became the first team in postseason history to fall behind 0-2 in consecutive series and win.

Jack Nicholson is a regular figure at Lakers games, but lesser-known is his courtside neighbor, legendary music producer Lou Adler. Floyd Mayweather has been a longtime fan of the NBA, and Los Angeles gives him twice the opportunities to take in a game. The Clippers have names on the physical court for owner Steve Ballmer and the team's most high-profile fans, like Jimmy Goldstein, who attends every Clippers home game he can. Grammy Award-winning artist Travis Scott takes in a Lakers game at Staples Center.

A drafted player, either an international draftee or a college draftee who is not signed by the team that drafted him, is allowed to sign with any non-NBA teams. In this case, the team retains the player's draft rights in the NBA until one year after the player's contract with the non-NBA team ends. This list includes draft rights that were acquired from trades with other teams.

The planned arena is expected to be located at Century Boulevard between Yukon and Prairie Avenues, directly south of the new SoFi Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League. The arena is also expected to house a practice facility and team headquarters for the Clippers, as the team's current practice facility in Los Angeles' Playa Vista neighborhood is still owned by the Sterling Family Trust, and is leased back to the team. The Inglewood city council unanimously voted for the agreement in which a subsidiary of the Clippers will purchase 22 acres covering four large city blocks in what is largely a lower-class/lower-middle-class residential neighborhood to build the new facility.
